The Game

For my husbands 40th birthday I got him tickets to this weeks Cowboy game. My husband despises the Cowboys, he is a Steeler fan, so obviously I was thinking more about myself when I got this present. Anyway, we are going with all my sisters and brother-in-laws and I cannot wait! I also can't wait for a trip with my husband all by ourselves, that's right, ourselves. All 8 kids are being "shipped off." A special early thanks to Sharon and Poppa for taking care of our babies! Now everyone please pray that my husband, the huge Steeler fan that will be decked out in Steeler gear, doesn't get into a fight, ha!! Pictures will be posted as soon as we get back! GO COWBOYS!

We Did It!!!

Well, we survived our first Thanksgiving with out the best cook in the world!!! It is kinda funny how things work out. We sat down at the table to have Thanksgiving dinner and teared up a bit, but we were so proud of ourselves that we couldn't cry. Instead we started clapping and cheering for ourselves!!! I have included a pic for all to see!!!

This One's For Koby

This past Friday was Senior night for the Dalhart Wolves and Joey and I had the honor of escorting Koby and being his "parents" that night. Koby is Joey's nephew that moved in with us two years ago this December. When Koby moved here he had been kicked out of school, was failing all of his classes, didn't play football, and life was a struggle. In the past two years he has become an A/B student, become a Christian, and is one heck of a football player!!! Koby has joined the Marines and will be leaving this summer! I am so proud of this kid and can't wait to see what his future holds. Koby, this page is dedicated to you!!!

Football

The one word that describes my life right now is Football. I go to at least 3 games a week, sometimes 4 and then my Sunday's are devoted to fantasy football. For those of you that know me, you know that there is no where I'd rather be than watching a good football game and this year i am getting plenty of that.

I have always loved high school football, probably because I was raised in such a wonderful football town, and believe you me, compared to the other's I have been at Childress is a football town, but now I must say my favorite games are "The DAWGS". Curry plays football for SWOSU (Southwestern Oklahoma State University) and it is so much fun to go and watch him. We all load up in the family "Griswald" vehicle and head to Weatherford, OK. As with any trip from Dalhart America, Weatherford is a long way, especially with a newborn, a two year old, and very big boys! We have so much fun though. Joey and I actually enjoy the long trips because it is the only time we have during football season to sit and talk. We usually get home around 4am.

Curry gets to play quite a bit and it is so fun to watch him. I have never known my husband to show much emotion on the football field, but when we are at Curry's ballgames he is estatic and it shows. He is so proud and so are all the rest of us. I swear to you Curry has the loudest cheering section of anyone there, even when his name gets called our for being offsides! A lady told me the other night the she loves to just sit and watch our family!!!

Curry is also very emotional when we are there. He is so proud of his family. He makes sure that we are all coming, he tells everyone that his dad will be there and then he makes sure that we are all on the field to greet him after the games. He also loves the fact that he has so many brothers and sisters!! He is also big on making sure that we get lots of family pictures at his games. He is so sweet!!

The Dalhart Wolves are struggling a little right now due to injury, but Koby and Ashton also make us very proud. Koby has turned out to be a great suprise in football this year and is pretty good. This is only his second year to play football and he has become a leader.

Ashton's team is undefeated and he let's everyone know about it. He is usually the center but lately his dad has moved him to guard and he adapts well. In case you didn't know Joey coaches Koby and Ashton's position which can sometimes be rough.

Dallam we don't get to see much cause he plays for the stinking Canyon Eagles, but we get to see videos every week and let me tell you, Dal could be the best one yet!!!

As for my fantasy....we won't talk about that.

Suprise...It's a Girl

Joie Kathryn is here. This is of course a little late.
She was born on August 5th and I am just now getting around to writing this. To make a long story short.......I went to the doctor on August 5th and he did a sonogram to see how the baby was laying, he said the baby hadn't dropped and it would be at least a couple of weeks. Joey and I leave the clinic and head to Mazzio's to meet our friends for pizza. Seven minutes later I get out of the car and here came the gush of water. It was so funny to me. We all laughed and laughed. The nurse and doctor didn't believe it. Five hours later, to my husbands suprise, we had lucky #7, a baby girl. She was three weeks early. I was absolutely thrilled and Joey was shocked. He was certain it was a boy. She is perfect. My dad happened to be in Amarillo on that day it worked out great. My sisters and Sharon and Staci have all been here and helped me get situated. My Aunt Susie came too and I was glad to have the help. I had a little set back and had to back into the hospital a week after she was born. I developed Pre-eclampsia postpartum. It is a very rare condition so of course I got it!!!! We are all doing great now. Kyler adores his baby sister and I am very thankful for that.

Summer

Of Course I am way behind on my blogging. Should have known I would not keep up with it!! Summer has been busy. We ran our fireworks stand again this year. It was not easy being 7 months pregnant!!! It was hot but thank goodness I had a ton of teenagers to help me!! Even my nephew Connor came down to help!

After the fireworks stand we went to the lake and spent a week with my dad and my sister Julie's family. It was so nice. As you can see from the pictures I am going to pop and I still have 5 weeks to go!! We are getting very excited and everyone is dying to know what the little booger is!!! Joey starts football next week so his summer is basically over. Guess I better get ready to be the football widow with a new baby....smart planning!!! Well, that is all the free time I have, gotta run...love to all.

The Cabin!!!

The cabin is finally done..... well almost!!! We finally got to go on Memorial Day weekend. It was a bittersweet weekend. Dad promised mom it would be done and we could meet there as a family and we did. On Sunday it was mom and dad's 40th wedding anniversary. In honor of mom we hung the big star on the outside of the cabin. She was so proud of her Texas star!! The cabin is in Oklahoma and she wanted everyone to know that our cabin is Texan!!! The cabin is big enough that all of us had a place to sleep, even the kids. I didn't get to include all the pictures, but here are some so you get the idea.

Random Thoughts!!

I had a prenatal appointment this week and things went good. The baby is growing and doing fine. The biggest concern in still the blood clot. We will be having to make a decision on June 15th about treatment for the last trimester. Please remember me and my doctor as we decide the best care for me and the baby. I am 25 weeks, it is going fast.

Mother's Day is this weekend. It will probably be the biggest challenge that me and the sisters have had to face since Mom passed away. Joey and I are meeting dad in Amarillo to pick out stuff for the cabin on Sunday so that we don't have to "face reality." Please continue to keep us all in your prayers. It is not getting in easier!!

I am including some pretty random pictures today. It is finallly getting warm here so Ky is spending all his time with his best friend look. I took a picture of him talking to look the other day and I thought it was so cute. I thought I would share a picture of my some of my neices and nephews. The are such a joy. I am also posting a pic of my track star Demi. She won the open quarter by a long shot. Then I thought that the boys (Koby & Ashton) needed some recognition so they are one here too.

Hope all is doing well!! I will keep updating as I can!

My first blog

I can't believe that I would actually do a blog, but I let my student talk me into it. She said that the only way they can keep up with me is if I start this blog so here we go!!!

For those of you that don't know, Joey and I are expecting again. The timing couldn't be any better. I am due on August 23rd. I believe that is the day of Joey's first scrimmage!! We will now be "Eight is Enough." We are thrilled. We had our first sonogram and chose not to find out what it was. Well, I chose and Joey didn't have a choice but to go along with me. The pregnancy has been kind of rough, but we are doing well.

Here is a quick update on all the kids. Kyler is 2 now, I can't believe it, he is getting so big!! Curry, is playing football in college and is loving it. Ashton and Koby are just going right along here at good 'ol Dalhart High School. There have been no tragedies lately with those two so it is good. Dallam, Demi, and Breena are also doing well. The girls are getting so big and Joey can harldy stand it. Kyler is in love with his sisters and the feeling is mutual.

I will try and keep this up as often as I can! Take care. Love to all.
